Said to have started over 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda—believed to have been brought by Hindu mythological divine physician Dhanvantari—is One of the first books on Ayurvedic surgical techniques, the Sushruta Samhita was penned in the first millennium BCE. Most people nowadays understand this approach as Indian Traditional Medicine.
One of the most often asked questions among future students is if BAMS graduates can practice modern medicine and whether they are licensed doctors.
The response is yes; BAMS graduates are licensed doctors able to run their own Ayurvedic businesses.
BAMS doctors are already appointed in many Indian states, particularly in rural areas where they are permitted to apply Allopathy during emergencies, in Primary Health Centers.
